Scripture:
"A Lazy Man; A Lion in the Street"
Proverbs 22:13
13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside!" or, "I will be murdered in the streets!"
|
Commentary:
This very similar to another scripture or proverb of the 'ant', in Proverbs 6:6 (New International Version)
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! also the remaining verses, are just self explanatory:
7 It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
We live in a society that seeks excuses for everything little thing. We should be content with what God has blessed us with. We should value the intangible and irreplaceable things like our family, and cherish every moment we have together! In closing, be willing to share your experience(s) with others. The result is: it never benefits you in the end! But it encourages the other person listening. Perhaps, your experince(s) will prevent him or her from making the same mistake. To succeed in any endeavor, work or an effort is a vital part of it. Being idle or lazy enables failure not success! Yes, at some point in our lives we have experienced being in sluggard mode or perhaps experienced a stage of exhaustion due to too much work. Others may say I have the characteristics of the "ant", preparing for the harvest.
Where do you stand? Are you the "ant" or the "sluggard"?
